Biking

Bicycling is a fun, low-impact exercise that burns calories and boosts self-esteem while enhancing cardiovascular fitness and cutting your risk of developing heart disease, cancer and other diseases and ailments.

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island has special section devoted to bike routes and tours, bike repair shops and bike-friendly establishments in Essex County

Safety

Our bike safety section has some common sense guidelines for staying safe on the roads. You can also read Ontario's Cycling Skills guide. The CAA has a Bike Assist program and there is even an app for your phone.

ABC Quick Bicycle Safety Check

A is for Air, to make sure your tires have enough air and aren't worn or damaged

B is for Brakes, to make sure they are working

C is for Chains and Cranks, to make sure they are lubricated and spin or turn freely

Quick is for Quick Release: Make sure your quick release wheels are firmly in place

Check is for final check: Lift the bike several inches of the ground and drop it, listening for loose parts. Tighten them if necessary.
