  • Ensure your bin is placed out correctly on the street by 7:00 am on your collection day (Sidewalk placement is not an option).
  • One metre of clearance on all sides is required so the automated truck can access the bin.
  • Refrain from parking in front of your bin on collection day, however, if there is a vehicle parked in front of your bin, please place the bin out past the vehicle so the truck can reach it.

All single-family homes are provided with a roll-out style bin. Roll-out bins are the property of the Town of Vermilion and are issued to the civic address rather than the property owner. If you move, the bin must remain with the property as each bin has a RFID identification corresponding with the civic address. This helps us identify lost or stolen bins. Bins that are altered, painted, or damaged from improper use will be subject to a replacement cost to the property owner. It is recommended to only have your bin on the street for collection day to prevent potential theft or damage to the bin. Bins may be stored anywhere on your property. If your bin requires a repair that is due to normal wear and tear, please call the Infrastructure and Planning Services Department at 780-581-2415.

There is no organic collection available for multi-family units at this time. Please dispose of your organic waste into your regular garbage.

On occasion, we may not be able to pick up your waste bin due to improper placement, bins placed out after the truck has passed, emergency truck repairs, or winter storms. If your bin was not picked up, please remove it from the curb and wait until your next collection day or further direction from the Town on the Town website or signage.

Placing non-organic material in the bins is considered as misuse of the bin and offenders will be charged the removal costs of material.
