This year, CWATS is playing a key role in Canada’s 150th birthday, as we celebrate the completion of 150 kilometres of trail across Essex County. This wonderful trail that is mostly off-road and connects all eight communities in our region to the Trans Canada Trail, which is also known as the Great Trail.
“It’s a perfect coincidence that 150 kilometres of trail is built for Canada 150. This achievement was made possible through dedicated partnerships formed through CWATS,” said Jane Mustac, Manager of Transportation Planning for the County of Essex. “Locals can now say that we are connected to The Great Trail and they can Walk, Ride – Canada Wide.”
At this free event, adults have the opportunity to collect a commemorative red 2017 CWATS Celebration t-shirt. 600 sports packs will also be distributed to students, courtesy of the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. All participants can also enter a draw for a chance to win great prizes.
This year’s CWATS celebrations are sponsored in part by the Healthy Kids Community Challenge Windsor-Essex, and supported by the CWATS Committee, the County of Essex, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and the Windsor-Essex Communities in Motion. Come out for refreshments, prizes, giveaways, and fun so you can say that you too “Walk, Ride, County Canada Wide!” For more information please visit cwats.ca.
