County Council Will Meet as Scheduled Wednesday Night

Essex County, ON County Council will meet as scheduled Wednesday night and Warden Gary McNamara is urging members of the public to watch the meeting online or on television rather than in person.

“We have to do everything we can to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and the best way to do that is to practice social distancing by avoiding crowds and staying home as much as possible,” said McNamara.

“We are not closing our meeting to the public or the press, but we are encouraging residents to watch the meeting online or on television rather than in Council Chambers.”

The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Essex County Civic Centre. It will be broadcast live by YourTV and will also be streamed online at this link: https://video.isilive.ca/countyofessex/live.html.

The agenda for Wednesday’s meeting has been posted online.

“These are extraordinary times we are experiencing in Windsor-Essex and governments of all levels are taking extraordinary steps to promote public health and stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” said McNamara.

“Every resident of Windsor-Essex can play a vital role in promoting public health by practicing social distancing as much as possible and by washing their hands frequently.”

McNamara added it was important for residents to get their information from official sources and to look out for one another by practicing normal shopping habits and by phoning friends and family members, particularly vulnerable ones, to see if they need assistance.

“We can practice social distancing and still be stand-up friends and compassionate citizens,” said McNamara. “We can each do our part to take care of each other and our community until this health crisis passes.”
