Notice of Public Consultation Centre

County of Essex and Municipality of Lakeshore

County Road 22 Reconstruction

Introduction

The County of Essex, in partnership with the Municipality of Lakeshore, has retained BT Engineering Inc. to design County Road 22 from I.C. Roy Drive to West Belle River Road. The design incorporates improvements that are in accordance with the recommendations of the County Road 22 Environmental Assessment Study (2006) and the County Road 22 Corridor Alternatives and Strategies Study (2022). The project will include a multi-use path on the south side of County Road 22, a sidewalk on the north side and separated cycle tracks to support active transportation within the corridor. Construction will be staged in two contracts as shown below.

Study Process

Based on the previous studies the project has Environmental Assessment clearance and will proceed to construction. This is a Schedule C project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment and includes the preparation of contract documents for the tender and subsequent construction of the project. The project will include active transportation improvements, consolidation of accesses along the arterial road corridor, new municipal services, new traffic signals, illumination, pavement improvements and property acquisition. The detailed design will be presented to the public for comment at this Public Consultation Centre.

Public Consultation Centre

The County of Essex and Municipality of Lakeshore will hold an in-person Public Consultation Centre to present the detailed design and receive input:

Date:                     June 18, 2024

Time:                    6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Location:             Atlas Tube Recreation Centre - Renaud Room, 447 Renaud Line, Belle River, Ontario N0R 1A0

Anyone with an interest in the project can provide input. There is an opportunity at any time during the Class Environmental Assessment process for interested persons to provide comments. Early identification of individual and group concerns greatly aids in addressing these concerns.
