County Road 42 in Tecumseh Temporarily Closed on May 1

County Road 42 is scheduled to be closed to traffic from east of Lauzon Road to west of County Road 19 (Manning Road) on Sunday, May 1, to accommodate hydro crews.

During the closure, expected between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., this stretch of County Road 42 will only be accessible to residents and businesses in the area.

Hydro One has requested the closure so crews can work safely and without interruption on the relocation of power lines. It has notified residents and businesses that will be affected by an electrical outage between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Those with questions related to electrical service should refer to the notice they received from Hydro One.

Digital message boards notifying the public of the closure have been placed on County Road 42 at Lauzon, County Road 19 (Manning) and County Road 43 (Banwell Road).

The Hydro One work was originally scheduled for April 10 but had to be postponed. It is part of the relocation of utilities necessary for a multi-year construction project along County Road 42 in Tecumseh and Lakeshore that will include:

  • The widening of County Road 42 from County Road 19 (Manning) to the City of Windsor limits to a five-lane roadway with bike lanes, sidewalks and multi-use trails.
  • The building of multi-lane roundabouts on County Road 42 at County Road 19 (Manning) and a new intersection with County Road 43 (Banwell).
  • The diversion and widening of County Road 43 (Banwell) from Shields Avenue to south of County Road 42.
