COVID-19 Donation Centre Update
Residents in Essex County and Windsor have stepped up to provide urgently needed medical supplies to help protect our frontline healthcare workers, but more supplies are still needed.
Since the County and City launched an appeal for donations on March 23, donations have been pouring in from generous businesses and individuals. They are being distributed to frontline healthcare workers across the region.
More than 90 individuals or organizations have donated materials and supplies, including:
- 1,500 N-95 respirator masks;
- 31,000 surgical face masks;
- 29,000 pairs of disposable gloves;
- Nearly 100 pairs of goggles or face shields;
Donations have been arriving in both large and small quantities, ranging from a single box of gloves to a donation of over 14,000 face masks from one organization.
“It has been incredible to watch Windsor-Essex rise up and work together to protect our frontline health care workers and slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Warden Gary McNamara. “Thank you to every individual and every business that has donated medical supplies. You are saving lives. The need for supplies remains urgent and donations are still being accepted.”
To make a donation, please visit the WFCU Centre (8787 McHugh Street). Please pull up to the Community Rink doors off the main parking lot where staff will direct you after a short screening process.
The hours of operation will remain on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the foreseeable future.
These items are being put to immediate use in hospitals, by paramedics, fire, police and correctional services, as well as long-term care homes.
