Essex-Windsor EMS Honours Paramedics At Awards Ceremony

Essex-Windsor EMS held an awards ceremony Thursday night to honour paramedics for exceptional work and long years of service.

Chief Bruce Krauter received a Service Decoration for 35 years of service along with Ken Jacobs, Mike Gobet and Mark Ward. Marty Petro and Sarah Bezaire were recognized for 25 years of service and more than a dozen others achieved the 15-year milestone.

Paramedics voted for winners in several categories covering each of the past two years.

The 2018 Rookie of the Year was Amy Lutsch and the 2018 Mentor of the Year was Gerry Seguin. For 2017, Joe Mollica took home Rookie of the Year honours and Rick St-Pierre was honoured for mentoring.

The 2018 Fellowship Award went to Paul Stromme and the 2017 Fellowship Award was presented to Michele Taylor. The Peer Support team won the 2018 Community Award. The William Macri Memorial 4th Watch won the Community Award for 2017.

Warden Gary McNamara attended the ceremony at Ambassador Golf Club and praised Essex-Windsor EMS paramedics for their hard work and selfless community service.

“I know you didn’t become a paramedic for the plaudits and the accolades but enjoy them just the same,” said McNamara. “You’ve earned them and far too often you are the unsung heroes.”
