Travel Alberta – Chris Down

Chris Down with Travel Alberta provided an overview regarding enhancing traveller experience, marketing, grant applications, tourist investment program, cooperative investment, product development, community investment and indigenous tourism, and Northeast Lakelands Tourism Development Zone 2022-2035 projections.

Bylaws

Bylaw 2.24 – Trunk Line Borrowing Bylaw

Council gave second reading to 2.2024 Trunk Line Borrowing Bylaw.

Bylaw 3.24 – Remote Attendance Bylaw

Council gave third reading to 3.2024 Remote Attendance Bylaw.

Bylaw 5.24 – Tax Rate Bylaw

Council gave first reading to 5.2024 Tax Rate Bylaw.

New Business

Capital Budget Amendment

Council approved an amendment to the 2024 Capital Budget to change the funding source of the Sewer Treatment Plant Demolition budget to LGFF Grant funded from debt.

Disability Services Professional Appreciation Week

Council proclaimed May 20-26, 2024 as the Alberta Disability Services Professional Appreciation Week.

Price Reduction of Commercial Lots

Council updated the price of our commercial land to $130,000/acre excluding GST with no additional incentives until May 1, 2025 at which time it will be reviewed.

North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance (NSWA) Call for Nominations

Council supported Councillor Robert Pulyk’s nomination to the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance (NSWA) board of directors for consideration at the AGM.

Council defeated the motion to provide Councillor Robert Pulyk’s remuneration for attendance at the NSWA meetings.

Correspondence

Removal of Municipal School Reserve Designation

Council directed administration to send correspondence to the Office of Red Tape Reduction regarding the removal of municipal school reserve designation and to copy the Premier and MLA Garth Rowswell.
