Delegations
Sgt. Dunsmore – RCMP Detachment Vermilion Quarterly Community Policing Report
Sgt. Dunsmore provided an update on activities within the detachment.
Sgt. Dunsmore presented information on Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) network. The three community priorities were reviewed as well as detachment support with 8 working officers.
Bylaws
Bylaw 1-2023 – Operating Line of Credit Borrowing Bylaw
Council gave all three readings to Operating Line of Credit Borrowing Bylaw 1-2023.
Bylaw 2-2023 – Land Use Bylaw
Council gave first reading for Bylaw 2-2023 amending the existing LUB, and will proceed with the public hearing process.
Bylaw 3-2023 – Road Closure Bylaw
Council gave first reading to Bylaw 3-2023 and will proceed with the public hearing process and will obtain Ministerial approval from Alberta Transportation.
New Business
Public Commentary
Ms. Sherry Martin brought forward snow removal concerns to Council.
Assessor Appointment
Council appointed Mike Krim as the Municipal Assessor per section 283.2(1) of the Municipal Government Act (MGA).
Accounts Receivables Write-Off – Fiscal Year 2022
Council authorized the Finance department to apply the outstanding balances in the amount totaling $6,941.79 to the corresponding property tax rolls in accordance with the collection policy.
Vermilion Legion Branch #11 Letter of Support Request - Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) Grant
Council approved administration to draft a letter of support from the Town of Vermilion for the Legion’s Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) Grant application.
Realtor Incentives Lot Sales
Council approved an increase in the Realtor Incentive on Town owned Industrial and Commercial land to $5,000.00 per lot or transaction. The Realtor must have a valid Town of Vermilion Business License and be instrumental in the sale. Incentive payment will be paid once sale is paid in full. This program will be reviewed by Council annually.
Printed Talk of the Town
Council approved 250 pages per month of a printed, one-page, double-sided black and white version of the Talk of the Town at the cost of $3000.00 from the FCSS community programming budget.
