Oath of Office

Deputy Mayor

Council appointed Councillor Robert Snow as Deputy Mayor for the months of July and August 2022.

Delegations

Sgt. Dunsmore – RCMP Detachment Vermilion Quarterly Community Policing Report

Sgt. Dunsmore provided an update on activities within the detachment.

Sgt. Dunsmore presented two new RCMP initiatives. The Body Worn Camera program and the Alberta RCMP App which is the mobile app for iOS and Android devices. The three community priorities were reviewed as well as detachment support with 8 working officers.

Ms. Shari-Anne Doolaege, SAGE Analytics Inc. – 2022 Strategic Plan

Ms. Doolaege presented the 2022 Strategic Plan for the Town of Vermilion. Council discussed the Vision, Mission, Values, Slogan, and Strategic Priorities (top 5 key priorities) that were developed from Council and community input. Prior leadership were recognized by highlighting accomplishments.

Bylaws

Bylaw 5-2022 – Off-Site Levy

Council gave first reading to the proposed Bylaw 5-2022 and public hearing was scheduled for July 19, 2022.

New Business

Infrastructure Levy

Council approved an addition of $2.50 on each flat Water & Sewer rate commencing October 1, 2022, as well as the addition of a reserve transfer in the form of a dividend from each of the utilities to tax-funded operations to the 2022 Operating Budget of $50,000 each and a corresponding increase to Water & Sewer 2022 Operating Budget Revenue.

Annual Recognition and Service Awards Policy

Council approved the 2022 Staff Recognition Policy to be effective June 16, 2022.

MPE Settlement – Wastewater Treatment Facility

Council approved the settlement offer of $300,000 from MPE Engineering and their sub-consultant TetraTech.

Planning and Development

Proposed Removal of Brennan Municipal School Reserve (MSR) Designated Lots

Council authorized administration to begin the process to remove the Municipal School Reserve (MSR) designation from the three lots to change them to Municipal Reserve (MR) lots.

Proposed Removal of Municipal Reserve (MR) Designation - Lot 8MSR, Block 6, Plan 802 2872

Council authorized administration to begin the process of removing the Municipal Reserve (MR) designation on Lot 8MSR, Block 6, Plan 802 2872 once the MSR designation is removed.

Proposed Subdivision - Lots 26-28, Block 29, Plan 635V

Council approved the proposed subdivision of Lots 26-28, Block 29, Plan 635V.
