Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and Planning Services the Manager of Operations is a member and leader of the Infrastructure and Planning team. This employee is responsible for the daily work schedule preparation, supervision of maintenance and operation of roads, waste collection and disposal, cemetery, airport, recycling, utilities, parks, facilities and contracted services. This individual will also respond and complete the calls as received from the Infrastructure and Planning office in a prompt and responsible manner. As a senior employee, this personal shall establish and maintain excellent working relationships with employer(s), Public Works staff, Utilities staff, all other departments within the Town, as well as external agencies. Sound judgement and discretion must be used when responding to inquiries regarding confidential information.
This is a full-time position which may require occasional work in the evening and weekend.
Salary range of $75,511 - $88,337
Education:
Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Level II in water and wastewater distribution and collection, and a level III Certificate in wastewater treatment.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology is considered an asset, but not required.
- First Aid certificate
Experience:
- Municipal water and wastewater operation experience or education
- Minimum 5 years municipal experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Equipment operation
- Asphalt patching
- Utility maintenance and replacements
- Wastewater Treatment Plant operation
- Water and wastewater system operation
- Procurement and purchasing best practices (Purchase Orders)
- Operational budget tracking and management
- Facilities preventative maintenance and repair
Knowledge and Skills:
- Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Class 3 license with air brakes
- Microsoft Office Suite products. Ie. Word, Excel, etc.
- GIS familiarity
- Flexible and reliable, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to think logically and analytically and constructively express ideas and concepts
- A high level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
Other Requirements:
- Ability to identify issues that require notification of Director
- Ability to independently make defendable judgment calls for those issues that do not require further input from the Director.
- Due to the physical nature of the position, candidates must be in good physical condition.
- Will become active member of emergency operations centre and team.
- Successful candidate will be required to provide a current Criminal Records Check as a condition of employment
- Authorized to work in Canada
