Municipal Election Information Session

Residents of Windsor, Essex County and Pelee Island who are considering running in the October municipal election are invited to attend a free, virtual seminar at 6 p.m. on April 28, 2022, to learn more about the process.

There will be presentations by Ken Antaya, former Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of LaSalle, as well as presentations from representatives from Ontario’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Anyone who is interested in attending the Zoom is asked to register in advance on the Zoom registration page. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.

Registration is required so the event can be interactive and so participants can ask questions and seek information in breakout rooms specific to the municipality in which they are considering running.

The municipal election will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022. The nomination period begins on Monday, May 2, 2022, and the last day to submit your paperwork is Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2 p.m.

Information to be discussed during the seminar includes the following:

  • The role of local and county councils
  • The role of municipal staff
  • Nominations and candidate eligibility
  • Candidate and third-party advertising rules and duties
  • General campaign rules and election finances
