Court of King’s Bench of Alberta Decision
On Friday, June 14, 2024, Court of King’s Bench of Alberta officially removed Mayor Gregory Throndson from the Council for the Town of Vermilion effective immediately.
As per the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and the Local Authorities Elections Act a municipal official cannot owe the municipality over $500 for more than 90 days or they either resign or Council must apply to Court of King’s bench for a decision. Council is mandated to follow the rules of the MGA and the Local Authorities Elections Act.
Council for the Town of Vermilion stand together and wish to continue to work for Vermilion residents.
