Province Funding Child Care for School-Aged Children of Essential Workers

The Province of Ontario has approved the City of Windsor Children's Services Department's plan for providing emergency child care for school-aged children of frontline workers.

The Province is paying for the emergency child care as of April 19 while schools remain closed for in-person learning. The List of Eligible Workers - Emergency Child Care - April 2021 includes health-care and other essential workers.

Child Care will be free to those identified on the Province’s List of Eligible Workers for their school-aged children only.

Those who qualify should complete the Emergency Child Care Application and Consent Form (April 2021). The list of Approved Sites includes child-care centres across Windsor and Essex County.

Applications must be made directly to the City of Windsor, Children's Services Department by emailing childcare@citywindsor.ca or calling the intake line at 519-255-5312. (Please do not contact the Child Care Centres directly.)

More information is available on the City of Windsor’s website.
