The County of Essex opens the first PXO in the region!

The County of Essex is pleased to share that our Pedestrian Crossover (PXO) is complete. This is the first PXO in Essex County and it is located on CR #11 (Walker Road) between Highway #3 and South Talbot Road in order to allow pedestrians to cross the road.

As of January 1st, 2016, a new law was introduced under Bill 31: Making Ontario’s Roads Safer Act. This law allows municipal road authorities to install pedestrian crossovers (PXOs) on low-speed and low-volume roads.

Pedestrian crossovers (PXOs) are a new way for pedestrians to cross the road. A PXO is a new crossing with defined pavement markings and signs. Some PXOs may also have pedestrian-activated flashing lights.

REMEMBER: Pedestrians have the right-of-way! Find out more about PXOs by clicking the link below to view the brochure, or by visiting our CWATS Website.
