Warden McNamara's statement on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

On behalf of the County of Essex, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, a remarkable woman who led a life of extraordinary service as Canada’s reigning monarch for more than 70 years.

Our thoughts are with the members of the Royal Family, the people of Great Britain and the many more millions across the world who admired the Queen for her compassion, her sense of duty and her unwavering commitment to serving the Commonwealth.

The Queen made 22 official trips to Canada during her historic reign, including two memorable trips to the Windsor-Essex region. She had a personal and profound impact on the residents of our region, who join me now in mourning her death and honouring her incredible life.

Flags at the Essex County Civic Centre and other County facilities are being lowered to half-staff.
