Essex County residents in need of financial support from the government can apply to Employment & Training Services, which is managed by the City of Windsor.

Ontario Works

There are 2 ways to apply for Ontario Works assistance:

  1. Apply online
  2. The City of Windsor Intake unit will take calls Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 519-255-5600. Please have the following information with you when you call:
  • Social Insurance number
  • Ontario health card number
  • Relevant immigration papers, if applicable
  • Rental or mortgage information
  • Income information such as earnings, pensions and support
  • All banking and investment information
