  • Flag Raised to Mark AccessAbility Week 2024

    A locally designed Accessibility flag was raised at the Essex County Civic Centre Monday to mark National AccessAbility Week, which runs from May 26 to June 1. The flag, designed by Kristine Verbeek and selected above others by the accessibility advisory committees of Essex County and the local municipalities, features the word “Accessibility” beneath a stylized figure in a wheelchair facing the right side of the flag, with a series of seven chevrons pointing in the same direction.

  • Essex County Council is Seeking an Individual to Fill a Vacancy on the ECAAC

    The Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on the ECAAC. The appointment to the ECAAC will be for the remaining term of Council, until 2022.

  • Accessibility Advocate Urges Action in 'Inspiring and Motivating' Speech

    Renowned accessibility advocate David Lepofsky is calling on Essex-Windsor residents to take to Twitter in the campaign for an accessible Ontario, saying individuals can affect great change by using social media to lobby decision-makers and expose barriers. “You can each as individuals make a difference,” said Lepofsky, the Chair of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Alliance, to a crowd of more than 60 during a talk Tuesday at the Essex County Civic Centre.

  • Planned Maintenance of the Elevator at the Civic Centre

    Please be advised that the elevator at the Civic Centre (360 Fairview Ave. W. ) is currently operational, but will be out of service beginning on Wednesday, November 6 2019 due to a regular maintenance update.
