    Warden Praises Staff Who Worked Snowy Christmas Weekend. Warden Hilda MacDonald opened Wednesday’s meeting of Essex County council by thanking staff members who reported for work during a snowstorm on the Christmas weekend to ensure residents could travel and receive essential services.

  • Essex County Council Approves 2023 Budget

    The County of Essex passed a fiscally responsible Budget Wednesday night that maintains service levels despite significant inflationary pressures and addresses ongoing pandemic-related health care challenges while making substantial investments in infrastructure to accommodate economic growth and improve the quality of life of residents. The 2023 Budget includes funding to complete an update to the Official Plan and for the creation of the County’s first-ever Strategic Plan, a guiding document that will help the newly elected Council define goals and objectives for the next term and formulate an overarching vision for the future.

    There will be a meeting of Essex County Council on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 6:00 PM. As permitted under By-law 2022-31, being a by-law to provide rules governing the order and proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex, adopted on October 19, 2022, the meeting will take place with members of County Council in person at the Essex County Civic Centre.
